Nepalese cuisines

Nepal kitchen is reach in flavours and healthy spices. Far in Himalaya valleys local farmers are growing ginger, black pepper, coriander, cummin and all kinds of spices and herbs used in the local kitchen. Famous Nepalese Momos
Momos are smal dumplings filled with veggies, cheese or meat. They are specialty of local restaurants. You find here red, green, yellow momos. They are served with curry and chutneys. Very special meal is momo served in zerrai curry (which contains morning glory flowers, knows for their calming effect).

Nepali Thali set
Nepal Thali set includes: suruwa(soup), kala dal (lentils), alu tareko (potatoes), Saag(spinach or other green leaves), variety of vegetables, achar(homemade pickle), bhatmas sadeko (roasted soya bean),all served with freshly boiled rice. and sikarni desert(yogurt with cinnamon).

Dal Bhat
Dal bhat is a mix of lentils and rice, served with vegetables and curry. For many locals it is their every day basic meal.Dal Bhat is spiritualy significant food for Nepalese people. Its provides a lot of energy and proteins, especially for vegetarians, its alternative to western bread and noodles.

Aloo Chop
It is a mix of mashed potato, green peppers and onion and chilli. Allo Chop are often mix with Dal Bhat.

Sel Roti
Made of rice flour and garlic. Its cheap local snack, available in many local places.

Dahi Puri
Best Dari Puri is considered to be served in Lalitpur town, at Jawalakhel. crispy, small and made with curd among other ingredients.

Thukpa
Thukpa is a noodle soup. Its very nutricious, filled with spices, vegetables, sometimes also meat.

Laphing
Laphing is a spicy or plain deep-fried dumplings made from weat flour. They are often served with bean sauce or pickles.

Pani Puri
Pani puri is deep-fried shell filled with boiled potato and chickpeas, with variety of local spices.

Juju Dhau
Juju Dhau is mix of green peas, rice flour, jujube seeds, black sesame seeds, echi turmeric, chilli and salt, all fried.

Newari Khaja set

Newari Khaja is composition of cooked rice (chiura), curry potato(Aalu Tama), spicy boiled potatoes (Aalu ko achar), curd (Juju Dhau), spiced beans (Bodi ko Achar), fried fish (Sanya), fresh Ginger (Palu), lentils (Bara), green leafs (Saag)and Chatamari (Rice Flour Crepes). In some places additionally you receive barbeccued buffalo meat (Chwela) with black soybeans (Bhatmaas) too.

Butter Cha-Ja Tea
Butter tea, another name - suja is made from tea leaves mixed with yak butter, himalayan black salt. Its very ancient tibetan recipe for hot, higly nutritious drink, which provides lots of energy. Its served in monasteries during long pujas.

Masala Tea
Masala tea is a mixture of black tea lives with originally yak milk (today more often its served with cow mil) and spices like ginger, cardamon, black pepper among others. Usually little bit of sugar of honey is added for flavor. Its very common type of tea, served in every local restaurant.

Fresh ginger root boiled with hot water and mixed with local honey - its warms the body and refresh.

Mango Lassi
